Meeting BSCRS committee in Brussels, Tuesday 4 September 2012

Minutes

1. Adoption of the Minutes of BSCRS last meeting: no comments

2. Website evaluation
The number of visits and visitors to our website will be registered.
Some improvements have to be made concerning the list of IOL.
Evaluation has to be done whether all companies registered for IOL distrubution are figuring in the list.

3. The economic measures of INAMI with regard to ophtalmology:
– Since 1st August: budgetary cut has been introduced with mainly effects on cataract surgeons.
Cataract number 246912 didn’t change but the amount of the re-imbursement has been reduced from 458.54 euro to 434.64 euro.
– The local anesthesia numbers have been cancelled.

This means a reduction of approximately 70 euro on each cataract surgery.

4. OB 2012
The program for OB 2012 is almost final. In the afternoon a session with hot topics on corneal and conjunctival pathologies and interaction with the public will be introduced.
All the universities have been invited to propose speakers on this subject. A final program will be emailed by Guy Sallet.
Prof. Lemagne proposes to distribute a paper copy with a summary of the presentations to the audience.
Before their speach, speakers are invited to sign a consent form for publishing the content of their speech on the BSCRS website.

5. Winter meeting 2013
Organizer O. Kallay proposes, after the academic program, a social program with diner and dance in the evening.
The symposium will be divided in 2 parts:
Morning: live surgery taking place at the hospital of Braine l’Alleud.
Afternoon: A transmission of Femto cataract surgery from abroad

6. BSRS meeting

Dr. Vryghem reports a nice experience and participation to the BSRS meeting and invites the BSCRS members to participate to the next conference in June 2013 in Gleneagles.

Dr. Peter Evens gave some details on the future Winter BSCRS meeting 2014 in hotel La Réserve in Knokke, eventually ESCRS members from Great Britain and other countries can be invited to this unique location.

7. FRO – Fund for Research and Ophtalmology
is sponsored by the OB. Further sponsoring will be discussed.
J. M. Lemagne and R. Van Horenbeeck will be the representants of the BSCRS committee in the Academia for 2013. Guy Sallet and E. Tackoen are the representants of the BSCRS committee in OB this year.
J. Vryghem and E. Tackoen will be our delegates in OB next year.

8. Dr. Pauwels from the CM MEDIA PUBLICATION publishes on the ophtalmology shift from intra mural to extra mural. He is concerned about the care for casualties.
Dr. Van Horenbeeck suggests to avoid this discussion in the press.

9. This point will be discussed in the next meeting.

10. The next meeting of the board of the BSCRS will be held on 18/12/2012.
